Why Should I Take Korean Karate (Tae Kwon Do)?
Tae Kwon Do is unique in its ability to build confidence, discipline and physical fitness. It is also an effective self-defense method and an Olympic sport.
I Thought Tae Kwon Do Was Only For Those In Top Physical Condition?
Tae Kwon Do is for all ages. Children as young as 6 or 7, and males and females in their 40’s and 50’s take Tae Kwon Do at Advanced World Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do.
I Am Concerned About Injuries?
Advanced World Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do has safety as it’s first priority. We realise that learning control will help students understand the importance of safety.
What Will I Be Taught At Advanced World Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do?
Traditional martial arts are taught, with their emphasis on physical and mental harmony. The level of achievement is up to YOU, from basic selfdefence to advanced Black Belt. Basic Balintawak/Escrima and boxing techniques are also taught.
Who Will Be My Instructor?
The chief instructor is Mr G Rodriguez, who holds a 5th degree Black Belt awarded by Grand Master Seung Gyoo Dong. Mr Rodriguez is the Australian representative for Grand Master Dong’s Advanced World Martial Arts System which is based in the USA. Mr Rodriguez has represented the Philippines in international competition and has tournament experience in Australia and the USA in Tae Kwon Do karate and boxing. Our assistant instructor, Mr Scully has a 3nd degree Black Belt and has tournament experience in Australia and Malaysia where he obtained his Black Belt. Mr Bargwanna has a 2nd degree Black Belt, our assistant instructor and club president.
Is Advanced World Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do Affiliated With A National Body?
Advanced World Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do is the sole Australian representative of Grand Master Seung Gyoo Dong’s Advanced World Martial Arts System and is also associated with Mr Jung Tae Kim’s school. Mr Kim is the NSW president of The Australian Tae Kwon Do Association.
How much will it cost?
There is a non-refundable initial membership fee of $40. Monthly lesson fees: Senior $48; Junior $38 Lesson fees must be paid at the beginning of each month.
Are there any concessions for family groups?
Yes, reduction is applicable, this will be discussed during enrolment.
What does my membership cover?
The membership fee pays for hall, instructors and student insurance as well as the purchase of training aids such as focus mitts, protective equipment, punching bags, an attendance and grading card etc.
What equipment will I need to buy?
You need to buy a uniform (cost to be advised) and a fitted mouth guard. It is recommended that members eventually buy their own arm and shin guards as well as a groin protector.
Am I likely to be injured?
We cannot guarantee that you won’t. However, our tract record is excellent. We have not has a serious injury in the time we have been operating.
Where and when are classes held?
Training starts at 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm for beginners and 5.30 pm to 7.30
pm for intermediate and advance students every Tuesdays and Thursdays. All classes are held in the hall at Bletchington Public School, Orange.
Will I be insured against injury?
Yes, the Club does insure its members. The Club is a member of the NSW Sporting Injuries Insurance Scheme. Members are covered for authorised training and competition events. The Committee’s rules for training require at least two (2) registered participants training together under the supervision and consent of an official of the Club. Members can take out their own private cover if desired.
We strongly recommend that you carefully read our membership application form before you start training.
Student Rules and Regulations
1. Remove shoes upon entering the Dojang.
2. Whenever entering or leaving the Dojang, execute a bow of respect to the national flag.
3. Execute a bow of courtesy upon meeting an instructor or higher belt.
4. The Dobok must be clean, pressed and complete with belt at all times.
5. Profanity, loss of temper, horseplay, loud laughing, joking and talking, or any display of a lack of self-discipline will not be tolerated.
6. There will be no smoking, gum chewing or lounging against the walls while wearing the Dobok.
7. Free sparring is not allowed without permission from the instructor.
8. Techniques taught at the school are not to be applied outside of the Dojang unless circumstances involving your safety or the safety of others are overriding.
9. An excessive number of warnings (3) will result in termination of school membership. Membership fee will not be refunded..
